Nana
Asante Bediatuo, Lead Counsel for NPP’s Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Nana
Akomea, Kennedy Agyapong and Sammy Awuku, has described as “frivolous”
and “bogus” a law suit brought on them by one of the counsel for
beleaguered businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome. The four, and six
others including the CEO of Despite Group of Companies, Osei Kwame
Despite; CEO of Multimedia Group Limited, Kwesi Twum and Editor of
Peacefmonline, Nana Kwadwo Asante, have been hauled before an Accra
Circuit Court on a motion for contempt brought against them by Lawyer
David Annan, a member of the NDC Legal Team. However, Nana Asante Bediatuo tells Xfm 95.1 his clients are unperturbed by the suit. According
to him, the issue at stake is one of public concern and so “it will be
most ridiculous to suggest that nobody talks about it”. “This is
such a bogus, frivolous law suit intended to prevent people from
talking about the Woyome case. You will recall that the person who sent
this matter to court, David Annan himself has talked about the Woyome
case on air. Mr Woyome himself has given a press conference on this; the
President of the Republic has given statements on the Woyome saga and
several other people."
"This is such a matter of profound
national interest that it is almost ridiculous to suggest that nobody
ought to talk about it. When we are talking about an amount of money
that is so outrageously large that it affects our national finances and
we are being ask not to talk about it?” |

this country who have a stake in the public finances, are entitled to
make fair comments on matters of public interests and so I do not think
it is correct, fair or proper to attempt to gag citizens in this
manner”. He nonetheless added that his clients are unperturbed
saying, “we have solid answers and I do not believe the claims have
actually been well laid out and we will show that in court.”
