The Member of Parliament for the Assin North Constituency Kennedy Agyapong has been officially charged with treason.
The embattled MP is due for court on Wednesday. This was
disclosed to Citifmonline.com by the acting Director of Public Affairs
of the Ghana Police Service DSP Cephas Arthur.
The NPP firebrand is currently in BNI custody after he was whisked there from the Police CID offices.
He was invited to help with investigations into comments he made on his
Accra based radio station Oman Fm where he said "I declare war...",
comments which have been described by many as one that could incite
violence.
Hundreds of NPP members including the party's leadership besieged the
premises of the two security installations to negotiate his release.
If found guilty, Kennedy Agyapong could face the death penalty.
