Two officials of the United Front Party (UFP)
are contradicting each other over the purported dismissal and
suspension of two other activists of the party.
National
Chairman, Nana Agyenim Boateng has put out information to announce the
sacking of party Communication Director, Listowel Kusi-Poku for
misconduct.
A statement copied to the Electoral Commission, also suspends Women Organizer, Mary Awusi, for non-performance.
It
says while Madam Awusi had been unable to mobilize women for the party
since assuming office, Mr. Kusi-Poku is cited for verbal misconduct.
Nana Agyenim Boateng explained the decision was in line with the party’s constitution.
“Ever
since we elected Mary as our women's organizer she has not been able to
organize any of the women in this country. When we wrote to her asking
of why she is not performing she tore the letter. With Listowel, I
signed for his appointment and he uses abusive language on me and some
other executives which contravene the rules of the party so he is
sacked”, he stated.
However the two dispute the action and they
appear to enjoy support from party flag bearer, Akwasi Addae Odike, who
has also rubbished the National Chairman’s claims.
Mr. Addae says the party had taken no such decision, though he admitted Nana Agyenim Boateng had suggested it.
“Per
our constitution the flag bearer is the leader of the party after
congress and as far as I am concerned, Mary Awusi is the Women's
Organizer and Listowel Kusi-Poku still remains the Communication
Director. The party has not released any document of dispelling
anybody”, he asserted.
