The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Issah Zakaria has called for peace in the municipality to facilitate development, adding that nothing meaningful can take place in the area without stability.
Mr. Zakaria made the call when he inspected the 10-kilometre Gnani-Oti River road being constructed at an estimated cost of GH¢10,000.
The project is being funded by the Municipal Assembly’s share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund and Internal Generated Fund.
Mr. Zakaria said the Assembly has embarked on the construction of a number of feeder roads to open up some of the farming communities to Yendi, the Municipal capital.
Some of the roads include Kulkpinduli- Bingbale and Bakpaba- Kuni whilst Gnani- Kuni and Kananoyili- Jakando roads are being reshaped.
Mr. Zakaria appealed to the people to pay their taxes promptly for the Assembly to provide more development projects like market stores, new markets and a modern lorry park for the area.
He indicated that last year a Revenue Task Force was formed to collect the revenue of the assembly from defaulters and appealed to the people to cooperate with the personnel.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Alhaji Shahu Kadri said all the roads under- construction would be gravelled to enable the facilities to withstand the rains and not yield to erosion.
The Municipal Engineer Mr. Yakubu Abukari said constructional work on the Gnani- River Oti road would be completed as early as possible to enable tipper trucks to collect sand from the area for the assembly to generate revenue.
