The embattled Assin North Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has been granted bail for the second time in a day.
The lawmaker has been charged with treason felony, attempt to commit genocide and terrorism.
Hon. Agyapong, whose statement on an Accra-based radio station, Oman FM,
last week was found to be inciting and inflammatory was earlier in the
day granted bail because the security agencies kept him in custody
over the stipulated 48-hour period.
State prosecution amended the charge from treason to treason felony,
attempt to commit genocide and terrorism moments after the first bail
was secured. However, an Accra High Court heard the plea of
defense counsel and granted the MP bail in the sum of GhC200, 000.
The judge ordered for his release on health grounds. The
lawmaker is reported to have high blood pressure following his
detention.
Lawyers of Hon. Agyapong told Citi News
