The Vice President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has fired a salvo at
the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the main opposition party of
resorting to lies to campaign because they lack a clear message.
Speaking at a ceremony at the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)
headquarters to announce an official merger with the Democratic Freedom
Party (DFP), the Vice President said lies will not win the December
elections for the NPP.
He was optimistic the Mills-led administration will secure a second-term
judging from ongoing development projects scattered across the country.
“Our opponents have no message,” Mahama declared.
“I was watching the TV and an advert that must have been cleared by
the highest body of the party said Kufuor bought Ford vehicles of 3.5
and Atta Mills has come to buy Ford Explorers of 5.7.
That is obviously not true because the vehicles Atta Mills is using
were inherited from the NPP.”
He added: “So how they could have cleared that advert knowing that it is clearly an untruth, I don’t understand.
They also said Atta Mills sleeps at the Flagstaff House and moves to the Castle in the morning.
If that is the message our opponents have then it is actually laughable.”
The Vice President also urged the party members not to stoop to the
level of the NPP.
According to him, the NDC has delayed in launching its 2012 campaign
because they are conducting opinion polls to assess concerns of the
people.
