Bishop
Charles Agyin Asare, a renowned evangelist, and presiding Bishop of the
Word Miracle Church International has admonished Ghanaians to desist
from participating in any form of violence to demonstrate their
unflinching support to their preferred political parties as well as to
communicate their choice of preferred candidates.
He advised
Ghanaians to reject politicians who incite their supporters to commit
deadly crimes to give room for anarchy which would push their ascension
to the presidential or parliamentary seats.
He made this comment when he addressed his congregation last Sunday April 29.
The
sermon which was also telecast live on TV3 network was full of
admonition to politicians ahead of the 2012 general elections. Bishop
Agyin Asare cited American as worthy of emulation.
He explained
that during the presidential race between Al-gore and George Bush in
November, 2000, the former was the preferred choice of the Americans but
the tables overturned and Bush was declared a winner. He said instead
of the Americans protesting violently to express their disappointment,
they accepted the verdict and carried on with their lives.
The Bishop added that it is not godly and morally right for anyone to die for another person to become president.
“No one should die for someone to become president” he said.
Bishop
Agyin Asare also advised politicians to be tolerant and accept the
views of their opponents for peace to prevail because Ghana is bigger
than any political party or individual.
He recounted the
Activities of Boko Haram, an Islamic militant group in Nigeria who are
eradicating Christians with the aim of making the country an Islamic
State.
He prayed against any spirit of Boko Haram who would desire to destroy Ghanaians during the elections.
It
will be recalled that Nana Akufo-Addo declared “all-die-be-die” war cry
ahead of the 2012 general elections, implying that the NPP will use all
means possible to win power. He had previously warned that if the
results of this year’s election do not favour him and the NPP, the party
would ensure that Ghana suffers violence.
The “all-die-be-die”
rant reduced Nana Akufo- Addo from a viable alternative to the Mills-led
government to a desperate loser seeking to appeal to the worse instinct
of Ghanaians. |
