Head
of Evaluation and Oversight Unit at the Office of the President, Dr.
Tony Aidoo, has opined that flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),
Nana Akufo-Addo and members of the opposition party keep whining...
...about
Mills’ “Better Ghana” having turned into a “Bitter Ghana” simply
because the current business environment is not conducive for trading in
“cocaine”.
According to him, Ghana will continue to be an
unattractive destination for the illicit drug trade under President
Mills; and feels no pain for those who are no longer benefitting from
the trade.
Dr. Aidoo added that the President’s avowed stance to
clamp down on those engaged in the illicit drug trade, led to the
strengthening of state institutions fighting against the trade.
Speaking on 60 Minutes, a segment on Radio Gold’s
Morning Show on Tuesday, Dr. Tony Aidoo said, the NPP’s lamentations
about economic hardships, does not come to him as a surprise, stressing
that Nana Addo’s campaign platform sing-song that there “is no better
Ghana Agenda, the better Ghana Agenda has failed…the I care for you
policy has failed”, can be attributed to the fact that “our environment
is not more or less dominated and manipulated by armed robbers and
cocaine dealers”.
“How can Nana Akufo-Addo ever believe that
there would be a Better Ghana…because the environment created today is
not conducive for cocaine trade; because we don’t have a situation where
there is money laundering where people who sell cocaine will then bring
the proceeds in the form of expensive high performance cars…All those
who used to benefit from those kinds of conditions are definitely going
to…say there is no ‘Better Ghana’ but ‘Bitter Ghana’. Of course bitter,
because their nefarious activities have been curtailed...,” he said
strongly.
According to the former Deputy Defence Minister in the
NDC 1 regime, most Ghanaians are desirous of a “decent environment” to
live in which President Mills has provided and was hopeful that majority
of the electorate will reject Nana Addo’s bid for the presidency. |
